Collaborating for Wildfire Resilience

Our wildfire resilience programs focus on expanding prescribed fire, building a skilled fire workforce, supporting Firewise communities, providing shared equipment and PPE, delivering burn planning and implementation services, and advancing practitioner credentialing systems. Through these efforts, we strengthen local capacity and increase the pace and scale of “good fire” across the landscape. We actively seek collaboration with Prescribed Burn Associations, Resource Conservation Districts, Fire Safe Councils, conservation corps, local and state agencies, tribes, land trusts, private landowners, and aligned nonprofits. Together, we can develop sustainable, community-based solutions that reduce wildfire risk, restore ecosystems, and protect lives, property, and natural resources.

Prescribed Fire Expansion

Expanding the use of prescribed fire through partnerships with PBAs, agencies, and landowners to safely reduce hazardous fuels, restore ecosystems, and build local capacity for implementing good fire.

Shared Equipment Systems

Building regional equipment caches and PPE loaner programs that provide critical tools, burn trailers, and gear to PBAs and partners, reducing barriers and increasing safe, effective prescribed fire operations.

Fire Workforce Development

Developing a skilled fire workforce through NWCG-aligned training, hands-on experience, and partnerships with conservation corps and community groups to support long-term capacity for wildfire response and prescribed fire implementation.

Burn Planning Services

Providing professional prescribed fire planning, permitting support, and project coordination for landowners and partners, ensuring safe, compliant, and effective implementation of prescribed fire across diverse landscapes and ownerships.

Firewise Implementation

Supporting Firewise communities with planning and on-the-ground projects, including defensible space, fuel reduction, and prescribed fire, helping neighborhoods reduce wildfire risk and improve resilience through coordinated local action.

Practitioner Credentialing

Advancing fire practitioner credentialing through experience tracking, task book support, and training documentation systems, helping individuals maintain qualifications, achieve Red Card status, and grow within the fire workforce.

Building the Future Fire Workforce Through Collaboration

Our Fire Workforce Development Program is designed to build a skilled, diverse, and sustainable prescribed fire and wildland fire workforce. Through NWCG-aligned training, hands-on field experience, and mentorship pathways, we support participants from entry-level Firefighter Type 2 through advanced qualifications, including FFT1 and Burn Boss. We partner closely with conservation corps, community colleges, Prescribed Burn Associations, and local workforce development boards to create accessible training opportunities that lead to real-world experience and career pathways.

Our collaborations emphasize inclusion of local communities, youth, veterans, and underrepresented groups, helping remove barriers to entry through scholarships, PPE loaner programs, and on-the-ground training events. By working with agencies, nonprofits, and private partners, we ensure participants gain meaningful experience on active prescribed fire projects. Together, these partnerships strengthen local capacity, create job opportunities, and expand the workforce needed to safely implement prescribed fire at scale while improving forest health and community resilience.

Funding, Grants & Fiscal Sponsorship for Wildfire Resilience

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua.

Our funding initiatives are designed to support high-impact wildfire resilience projects by connecting resources with on-the-ground needs. We work with public agencies, private foundations, corporate partners, and individual donors to secure financial support for prescribed fire, workforce development, equipment, and community-based programs. By aligning funding with strategic priorities, we help scale effective solutions that reduce wildfire risk and restore ecosystems. Our approach emphasizes transparency, accountability, and measurable outcomes, ensuring that funds are used efficiently and responsibly. Through these efforts, we strengthen partnerships, expand capacity, and accelerate the implementation of meaningful, community-driven wildfire resilience projects.

Our grant programs support wildfire resilience by funding prescribed fire, fuels reduction, workforce training, and community preparedness projects. We collaborate with local partners to identify funding opportunities, develop competitive proposals, and secure resources from state, federal, and private sources. Our team helps manage grant administration, ensuring compliance, reporting, and efficient use of funds. By aligning funding with on-the-ground needs, we help communities implement meaningful projects that reduce wildfire risk and improve forest health. These grants enable scalable, collaborative solutions that strengthen local capacity and accelerate the pace of restoration and resilience efforts across diverse landscapes.

Our fiscal sponsorship program enables community groups, Prescribed Burn Associations, and emerging collaboratives to operate under our 501(c)(3) nonprofit status while building their own capacity. Through fiscal sponsorship, partners can receive tax-deductible donations, apply for grants, and access funding opportunities without establishing a separate nonprofit entity. We provide financial oversight, fund management, and reporting to ensure compliance and transparency. This structure reduces administrative burdens and allows partners to focus on implementing projects such as prescribed fire, fuels reduction, and training. By serving as a trusted financial sponsor, we help turn local initiatives into funded, impactful wildfire resilience efforts.
